Xalapa is the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is ringed by volcanoes and cloud forest. The Museo de Antropología displays exhibits from many Mexican civilizations. Colonial buildings include the baroque Catedral Metropolitana de la Inmaculada Concepción de Xalapa, with its yellow facade. The nearby Parque Juárez offers views of Mexico’s highest mountain, Pico de Orizaba.

Veracruz International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de Veracruz Heriberto Jara) is an international airport located on the outskirts of the city of Veracruz and provides many air transfers to cities in Mexico. Direct flights from around the world are available to Mexico City and Cancun, where transfers to Veracruz International Airport can be made. It is also possible to take a bus from Mexico City to Veracruz (6 hours), where you can admire the unusual volcanic scenery. We will provide further information about transfers between airports in 2025.
